El fortalecimiento que el yen está exhibiendo en el último tiempo, no refleja la situación real de la economía de Japón. Estas han sido las declaraciones del primer ministro de Japón Yukio Hatoyama, que además ha manifestado que dicho fortalecimiento está originado en factores externos y por tanto, no refleja la debilidad de la industria del país.
Asimismo Yukio Hatoyama solicitó cooperación internacional con el fin de concretar un plan de depreciación del yen.
La apreciación que la moneda nipona está viviendo ha perjudicado seriamente a la industria del país, no sólo por el encarecimiento de las exportaciones, lo cual le resta competitividad internacional, sino también por la disminución de los beneficios a la hora de repatriarlos.
La posibilidad de que el Banco de Japón (BOJ) colabore con el gobierno para frenar la apreciación del yen y la deflación ha sido visto con buenos ojos por parte de los inversores, ya que se espera colabore a la recuperación de la economía de Japón.
